I like you lot list of emotional, sad songs.

To me Evanescence -My Immortal is the virtually sad and melancholic vocal on this listing, with lots of memories. I also similar Rider very much.

I like listen to songs similar this and it doesn't make me automatically feel sad. There is a kind of melancholy, emotional songs that really makes me kind of happy.

But there are two songs that really makes me sad and I even don't know exactly why. They are not simply emotional and melancholic, merely at that place are also kind of "haunting". At to the lowest degree to me.

Audrey Lavergne - Central Park (It'due south from a film)

and this one:

Dahlia - Ghost Chair

I tin't even describe how this makes me feel. I think it's very beautiful & melancholic.

Hello Aaron Chapman, give thanks you for the vocal suggestions! I don't recall that I accept heard songs from Nick Drake, Elliot Smith, and Chett Baker but y'all describe their work and music in such a way that information technology sounds similar they are very unique and evocative, particularly if you discover them to have the most introspective and sincere songs. I will exist checking those out and adding songs when I update the hub. :-) Accept a wonderful day!

AaronChapman on February 12, 2016:

I experience like you lot need to add some Nick Drake and Elliott Smith songs. They accept the most introspective and sincere songs, having a sure sophistication that no modernistic artist can imitate. There'due south also this element of mysticism in Nick Drake'south songs that transcend y'all into this completely vulnerable and observant frame of mind. Nick Drake and Elliot Smith were the only two artists that I feel could explain my low without pitying the situation. Chett Bakery is some other artist that shouldn't exist overlooked.

How-do-you-do Bob Smith 0114, cheers for the song suggestions! I volition have to explore Frank Sinatra's No Ane Cares album and "Non That Funny" by Fleetwood Mac as I do not recall I am familiar with them. It sounds like both have different things to offer when it comes to exploring emotions of sadness and working through uncertain times/feelings, and I think information technology's cracking how that vocal was able to put all of your concerns into their proper perspective. I will be checking those out and adding songs when I update the hub. :-)

Bob Smith from Plymouth, MI on Feb xi, 2016:

I'd recommend Frank Sinatra's entire No One Cares album. It starts off with the title runway and ends with "None But the Lone Heart." In betwixt, information technology explores all of the emotions of sadness in what turns out to be a very comforting way.

"Not That Funny," by Fleetwood Mac would be some other practiced song for this list. I think laying on my bed at college, trying to figure out what comes next, listening to the Tusk album, and that song started playing. In some strange way, it put all of my concerns into their proper perspective.

Nalini Marquez (author) on July 05, 2015:

Information technology'due south interesting considering music does very oft relate to both our historic period and preference. Most of the lists I've made have some songs that are older but a lot of the songs are newer or are relatively recent. "Candle in the Current of air" is a sad i, and I can see why it was both an ode to Marilyn Monroe and why it was reworked to honor Princess Diana. They both had tragic lives and in some aspects, the tragedies of their lives were similar. Actors oftentimes say that they have to think of something really sad and awful for some of their sorry scenes, so it's fitting that listening to distressing songs would put you lot in the right mindset to write a sorry or heartbreaking affiliate in your next book since writers connect and so much with words and to words, and the music helps to add another layer. I hope some of these songs are able to help you with that and I hope that all goes well with the writing.

DW Davis from Eastern NC on July 04, 2015:

I may be showing my age and preference just I only recognized 5 of the songs on your list. One of them, 'Candle in the Air current,' was a favorite of mine earlier Sir Elton reworked it to award the fallen Princess Diana. Originally the song was an ode to Marilyn Monroe. About sad music in full general, I heed to sad songs when I am trying to put myself in the right mindset to write a sad or heartbreaking chapter in my next volume.

Hi Jonas Rodrigo, you are welcome for the list and I am glad you lot are looking forward to listening to the songs and that yous've found some that you like! Give thanks y'all for the song suggestions likewise. I am on the argue about "Riptide." Sometimes I hear it and there is something melancholy, a longing, a reaching, and it has a mixing of emotions (similar in a mode to "Sweet Disposition") and other times it's non melancholy enough and it's not equally melancholy as the other songs on this listing. It was a recent addition to the list simply I've been debating it since I put information technology hither. I'll swap information technology out with "Chasing Cars" until I determine since that one is very much a sorry song. I hope yous bask listening to the list! :-)

Jonas Rodrigo on July 02, 2015:

I dear Ready You! I love anything by Coldplay, really. How To Save A Life is dainty besides. Riptide being included somewhat shocked me; I don't think I've ever considered information technology every bit a sad song. If I could add a song to this, I'd cull Snowfall Patrol'south Chasing Cars. Ed Sheeran's Sunburn or Autumn Leaves is likewise good. Thank y'all for this listing. I can't await to hear them!

1)Here is "KNOWING ME" the sadness of long altitude love and living with the retentiveness of having had such special times together that may never happen again. "It was tardily, fourth dimension ran out, and I had to leave the difficult manner..."

two) Here is WATERCOLOR LAKE: helping a all-time friend through a very melancholy divorce..."as your life falls autonomously we walk around the lake...and as each footstep tells the truth, the light through the leaves reveals every final mistake..." http://youtu.be/Sffor_JGWHQ?listing=PLGy60lPWH9S8y-o4...

I as well enjoy listening to sad music. I feel that in that location is someone that also feel the style I feel at the moment. Or sometimes I don't feel lamentable, merely I think sadness is such a strong feeling that makes you create awesome things.

I agree that some of those songs doesn't come to my mind when I think about sadness actually, but I gauge that it depends on the person.

So I wanna add a song that comes to my mind that I employ to mind when I'grand pitiful, possibly you lot guys as well enjoy it:

When I feel that I'thousand lonely and everybody failed to me I listen to Everybody Hurts past R.E.M

Such a beautiful song that makes me experience more sorry but I kind of enjoy that, haha.

This topic about enjoying sadness is interesting.

Nalini Marquez (author) on Dec xvi, 2014:

I added Whitney Houston to this song list later I had created the poll and we tin't brand make modifications to the polls without erasing the previous votes and so I take not added Whitney or the other songs that were added after the poll started collecting votes. I was thinking of adding some other poll for the songs that were added after the poll but every fourth dimension a song is added to the Hub it would exist the same matter.

"I Will E'er Love You" is very sad to me besides. I get chills when I mind to it. In that location is definitely a connection between music and what we associate it with that gives information technology ability, or more power if it already has information technology. There was such tragedy to Whitney'due south life. Whitney gave that vocal so much ability and emotion, and that vocal reflects both her career high (her amazing and moving voice) and her life depression (her funeral), which is sorry.

Elton John'due south rendition of "A Candle in the Air current" for Princess Diana is some other sad one. It does sound like you feel the emotion/connection with funeral songs but since they are meant to impact us that is probably a good connection with the music and the person that is no longer here. Thank yous for the song suggestion. I volition add it to the list :-).

TL Stahling from United states on Dec xiv, 2014:

I didn't encounter Whitney Houston on your poll. I Will Always Love Y'all is very sad to me. Not but the song, but the tragedy of Whitney. Too, during her funeral as her coffin was beingness carried out, they started playing that song and I cried for her.

Likewise, Elton John's rendition of A Candle In The Wind for Princess Diana fabricated me cry. I guess there's a pattern of funerals with songs that affect me.

Hi JTRyder, I am glad that yous honey the list, especially since some of the artists may not have initially seemed like a fit! You lot are definitely not the just 1! :-) "Fix You" is such a profound and heartbreaking song that really taps into so much. I don't follow And so You Think You lot Can Trip the light fantastic toe but the piece that you sent to me was really moving! The story behind the choreography and music was meaningful and how information technology all came together was poignant and well washed. Music is a language, dance is a linguistic communication, and music + dance is another language and I relish seeing/watching/listening/interpreting them. Thanks for sending me the link.

I had never heard "Forever & Always" before simply I just checked information technology out. What a sorry love vocal! I volition add it to this hub.

As a dancer, yous will accept had your share of "feeling" the music and relating it to your piece of work. And equally you mentioned it can change anything and everything. Nosotros are such sensory beings. It is neat how humans can connect on so many levels and on different levels (including dance and music). Thank yous for your comment and I am glad you liked the list! :-)

Caroline from Athens, GA on October 07, 2014:

I'm so glad I'm non the only 1 who appreciates deplorable music sometimes! This is such a comprehensive list beyond and then many different genres. "Fix You" is just near guaranteed to brand me weep no thing where I am in my life. Howdy there EnyaBrennan61, thanks for your comment and feedback! I am glad that you similar the list! Enya would be a perfect add-on to this list; I don't know how I missed her. I just listened to "On My Manner Domicile" and information technology is a nice song! I did non add together information technology to the list because I thought it was a piddling fleck more upbeat than the other songs in the list and "The Memory of Trees" didn't have words which is why I didn't add information technology. But because of your proposition I did add an Enya vocal and I will proceed your song suggestions in heed for future song lists that I make!

I think it is great how music is able to speak to the states, move us, and aid usa process/go through life/recollect/reflect/etc., such as in the way that you mentioned. I hope that the proficient moments and proficient feelings outweigh the melancholic and sorry moments, and that music continues to brand you feel good when faced with the melancholic and sad moments.

It was lovely to read your comment and thanks over again for writing and sharing! Regards from UsA.! :-)

EnyaBrennan61 on October 27, 2013:

I like very much your listing!! I agree that music is 1 of the many means that we process and go through life. I heed to my favourite singer Enya everyday, because her vox makes me feel so good. The melodies of her songs and the haunting sound of her lovely vocalism makes my life something dissimilar.

I am not from the state I alive in, and this fact brings to me very melancholic and deplorable moments, but there is Enya to make me feel proficient. The song "On My Way Home" makes me think of all the practiced days I've lived in my origin place. The vocal "The Memory of Trees" makes me think of the environment and the Mother Nature, and how we are destroying information technology.

I would add these song to a list similar yours :)

Thank you lot if y'all read this! Regards from Spain! :)
